One of the most important aspects of hiking, backpacking, or camping will be making sure you avoid getting lost - after all, when you are going hiking or backpacking, part of the point of the trip is to "get away from it all" and relax for an afternoon, a day, or even a few days, but getting lost out there and being stuck out there for several days longer than you intended is probably not part of your plan - so when you are going backpacking, follow these tips to ensure that you know where you are, and that you know how to get back to the place from which you started. There are probably plenty of trails for you to choose from if you are taking a hiking or camping trip in a state park or a nature preserve. Even though you might think that a bit of adventure would be fun, you should make sure you are sticking to the marked trails, as this will keep you much safer - and even though this does not guarantee that you will be able to easily find your car when the time comes (after all, there are usually plenty of crisscrossed trails), you can at least make sure you do not end up lost in the woods, which can end up taking ages to recover from. Your eyes will probably be roaming quite a bit, taking in all the nature around you as you march along the trail (as this is certainly one of the best ways to relax and enjoy your hike), but as you allow your eyes to roam about, make sure that make sure you are also using them to help you pay attention - every once in a while - to any landmarks that might stand out and indicate later on that you are on the right path.
