Don't Forget Your Sunscreen.

The Relationship Cure: A 5 Step Guide to Strengthening Your Marriage, Family, and Friendships
Now that summer is upon us you need to remember to put on the sunscreen. It is critically important to remember this for your children more than anything else. The skin cancer foundation urges people to put on sunscreens to reduce the risk of skin cancers. One stat listed was that children who get blistering sunburns are at a far more greater chance of developing skin cancer later in life. Why would you want to risk your little ones health?

Lets talk a bit about the sun's rays. It is the radiation from those rays that make it through the earth's atmosphere, those are Ultrviolet A and B (UV A / UV B). Luckily for us, the atmosphere filters out the more dangerous radiation. Between 10am and 4pm is when the rays are the most direct. It should be avoided as much as possible during these hours. UV A & B both will burn you and can cause skin damage.

Babies under the age of six months should not be out in the sun. If you plan to have them outdoors with you, definiately look into a UV protected tent for proper shading.

Children over 6 months old should have something that protects against both A & B. Ideally the sunscreen should have an SPF of at least 30. You should also apply it at least 30 minutes before going outdoors.

You can easily choose from a common name brand or a mineral based with zinc or titanium like Loving Naturals zinc based natural sunscreen.

Covering with a wide brimmed hat, or UV protectant rated clothing is a great way to go when the sun is high.

Remember there really is no such thing as a healthy tan. A tan is what indicated skin damage and should be avoided. To keep yourself safe, make sure to add sunscreen and cover up your exposed skin.
