The Relationship Cure: A 5 Step Guide to Strengthening Your Marriage, Family, and Friendships
Staying awake can become difficult when you are taking a road trip, where you are driving long distances all at once. Although many people try to simply "push through" the tiredness, it has been proven that driving when you are extremely tired is nearly as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. Even if you only take a 30 minute nap, this can go a really long way in keeping you awake. Here are some places where you can pull over and catch some sleep when you are driving and start feeling like you are tired enough that it is putting yourself and others in danger. You might receive a knock on your window from a police officer in one of these spots, but once you explain what you are doing, they will commend you and leave you at peace. One of the best places to get a bit of sleep is in rest stops. Rest stops, of course, vary from state to state. But in many states, rest stops are off the road and are very quiet. Keep in mind, however, that a rest stop might not be the best place for you to sleep at nighttime. Those rest stops that are secluded and quiet can become dangerous after dark. However, during the day, these are definitely good places for some sleep. Another great place for sleep is travel plaza parking lots. These parking lots are usually large enough for you to find a quiet corner, away from all the traffic that is buzzing in and out. Kick back in your chair, make sure your alarm is set, and get some good sleep! You can sleep in a travel plaza parking lot even during the night and still be quite safe. Finally, a great place for sleeping if you cannot find a travel plaza parking lot nearby, is parking lots for hotels. There are enough cars in such places that no one is likely to bother you, and you can sleep for a bit and get right back on the road. It might seem like a hassle find a place and nap, but you can keep both yourself and other drivers safe, and you can feel refreshed for the next leg of your journey!
