Using a Vacuum Sealer For Food

The Relationship Cure: A 5 Step Guide to Strengthening Your Marriage, Family, and Friendships
Have you ever purchased fresh strawberries and woke up the next day and they were completely moldy and white? I hate having to waste fresh produce when it looked great the one day and was horrible the next. It not only is a waste of food, but also a waste of money. Yet there are some things you can do to lengthen the life of your food and even stock more for longer periods of time.

Vacuum sealers became readily available a few years ago to the general public. The food saver unit is a one of the more popular examples. What makes these so great is the wide variety of ways you can use them. You can purchase vacuum seal bags, which work wonders for freezing fresh produce to be eaten later. A pro tip is to pre-freeze your food before storing it. This seems to allow the foods to be sealed more tightly away from the air and ultimately keep better. Food saver containers can also be purchased, which work great for sealing fresh produce like lettuce, onions, pepper, berries, or anything else that might spoil quickly. Removing the air from the container helps to slow down the decomposition process, which is ultimately what happens when fresh produce goes bad. Clearly this is not an indefinite solution but it keeps produce fresher longer.

Mason jars can be utilized by the food saver which has a special tool for suctioning tops. This is a great way to store dried fruits for long periods. Flour, chips, popcorn, and many other foods can benefit greatly from this. It not only keeps you food fresh, but reduces the chance of rodents trying to get into your store of food.

The amount of food you save by using this system will more than pay for itself. Speaking from personal experience this sealer works incredibly well.
